English Language Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction at 69. All applicants are required to demonstrate the appropriate level of English language proficiency to function successfully in an English-speaking classroom.

Programs before September 2024

ESL/EAL Pathways courses

At least three years of English instruction

English language requirements for students who have completed three years* of full-time, face-to-face secondary or post-secondary education in an English-speaking country where English is the primary language of instruction

* English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are not considered in the three-year calculation

Completed English 12 (with less than three years of English instruction)

Less than three years of English instruction (no English 12)

International or B.C. offshore school

Students from institutions accredited by the (CIS) and may meet 69's English language requirements if they have completed three years* of full-time, face-to-face secondary education where English was the primary language of instruction and have an equivalent academic English course with the respective grade required by the program. Please contact a program advisor for more information.

* English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL) courses are not considered in the three-year calculation.

Proof of credentials

All applicants using external credentials (e.g. degrees, credits, or test scores) to meet 69's English language requirements must provide proof upon application.
